Prospective Members of U3A Tamborine Mountain Inc. should be in active retirement or preparing for retirement.  

Apart from the annual membership fee (Single $25 Couple  $40) the only costs to students are for shared venue rental and any course materials. Associate membership is $10.

Insurance:

U3A Tamborine Mtn. Inc. holds $10 million Public Liability Insurance.
 

Please note that Insurance is only to age 80.

U3A  A BRIEF HISTORY

The university of the 3rd Age began in France in the 1970s to provide positive stimulation to people in the 3rd age of their lives by providing programmes of learning.  These may be academic, cultural or recreational There are, in Australia alone, more than 150 groups.  Tutoring is offered by members to other members free of charge.

 

The Tamborine  Mountain association of U3A began with 27 members in July 2007 as part of the Jimboomba  U3A.  
In January 2008  University of the 3
rd Age Tamborine Mountain was incorporated as U3A TAMBORINE MOUNTAIN INC.  

The Steering Committee held the association’s first Annual General Meeting in  April 2008 at which the management committee was elected:

U3A TAMBORINE MOUNTAIN INC -
The objects of the Association:
1. To provide programmes of learning activities which offer stimulation and development to persons in the 3rd age of their lives.
2 To create a learning association which operates without reference to awards or qualifications.
3 To create opportunities for persons of the " 3rd age" to develop their potential
4 To exchange ideas and resources with other U3A groups, both in Australia and overseas.
5 To encourage the creation of similar groups in other parts of Queensland and Australia
6 To do all such things as may be incidental to the attainment of the above objects.
